Wow! You know it's been a whirlwind year since my last post here was when we first opened, just over a year ago.  Circus Culture has a life of its own now, and I'm so thrilled to have the opportunity to nurture it and help it grow.

We've just released our Fall Schedule - check it out and join us!

This week we have a group of 16 amazing circus camp troupers ages 7-19 taking a show on the road around the community with our free standing aerial rig (which we were able to purchase thanks to an amazing bake sale during our spring show CircusFolk!). Our performance schedule is below - please spread the word and come see these amazing young artists spread the circus joy. Rain location is at Circus Culture during each designated time - 116 W. Green Street in Ithaca.

  • Tuesday 9/23 Ithaca Children's Garden 11:00 am
  • Wednesday 9/24 Southside Community Center 10:30am
  • Thursday 9/25 Tompkins County Public Library Borg Warner Room 12:30pm
  • Friday Dewitt Park 9/26 10am + 12:30pm

Hope to see you there!

Summer into Fall

We've been up and running for two weeks now- the space is officially circusy and our campers kids have tested everything out and confirmed that Circus Culture rules!

We'll be announcing our fall schedule very soon - so stay posted!  In the meantime we have guest artists teaching for the month of August - stay in the loop on our facebook page for the most up to date info! Once fall arrives we'll have a proper opening party too :)

See you soon!

New Developments!

This weekend was the famous Ithaca Festival and we did it in true circus style - by leading the parade on Thursday, juggling, hooping, and playing with everyone possible the entire weekend, and topping it off with a performance on Sunday!

Our Indiegogo campaign is 19% funded and an amazing 60 people have donated. Join them and bring Circus Culture to life.

We were also featured in the Ithaca Journal,  Ithaca Voice, and on Ithaca.com

It's happening! Circus Culture is coming! Spread the word :)

It Takes a Village to Raise a Circus

We're crowdfunding $25,000 to purchase mats, aerial equipment, juggling props, energy efficient lighting, and paint for our new space. Watch our video to learn all about the campaign and our plans for getting the space ready. Check out all the awesome perks here and then

Wasn't that fun!? Now share the campaign with three friends that you know would LOVE to support making the circus school a reality!

Thanks to Miranda, Alex, Emma, and Rachel for your beautiful contribution! Soon you'll be able to go inside, but in the meantime we can gaze at this beauty.

Mats!

Here you'll see the ICircus - the Ithaca College circus club - celebrating their end of year show in a most circusy way - by helping the Circus Culture team load up mats on top of the car to bring to storage in our new space!

First of May

There is a reason we've chosen to formally announce we are here today, on May first. Historically, the First of May is when the circus season began and shows transitioned from their winter quarters into touring. In circus lingo, a "First of May" is someone just starting out with a show. So here we are - rooted in an amazing history and excited for a future of circus in Ithaca!
